The delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma) in Cienfuegos promotes actions for the protection of the natural environment in this province in the south-central part of Cuba, with the participation of companies, educational institutions and communities.

“The cleanups in areas of the Jagua Bay coastline, the meetings with residents of coastal settlements, as well as the confrontation with crimes and illegalities against flora and fauna stand out,” said Claudia Beatriz Quintana Perenzuela, deputy delegate of the Environment of Citma. in the territory.

Such activities are part of the campaign carried out by the organization on the eve of June 5, when the world celebrates World Environment Day; date that in 2024 is dedicated to the fight against desertification and drought.

In this regard, Quintana Perenzuela highlighted the insertion of the Program for Attention to Natural Resources and the Environment in the Territorial Development Strategy, to which different entities of the Citma in Cienfuegos contribute, among them: the Coordinating Board of Protected Areas, the Center of Environmental Studies, the Botanical Garden, the Office of Environmental Regulation and Safety, and the Bay State Care Group.

The official specified that the provincial event for World Environment Day will take place at the Rancho Luna Hotel, a tourist facility that, in addition to opting for Environmental Beach certification, is among the thirteen local actors who requested Environmental Territorial Recognition this year. . The presence of the Palmares Branch, Electromedicine and the Paquito González Cueto Pediatric Hospital stands out on the list.
