The leader of the people of Tolima sent a strong message to President Petro telling him that it is time to act.

Through a forceful speech, the governor of Tolima, Adriana Magali Matiz, requested the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, for a decisive intervention to confront violent acts and terrorism in the south of Colombia; specifically in the departments of Valle del Cauca and Cauca.

Likewise, the governor stressed the urgency of providing sufficient resources to the Military and Police Forces to confront the violent groups operating in the region. “This country hurts us and it should hurt us all,” she said, highlighting the need for a forceful response from the State.

“Mr. President, it is time to act without half measures, without ambivalence towards them, to provide our Military Forces with all the institutional support, with actions, not with words, to give them tools and resources to fight with the full weight of the legitimate weapons of the State to those who have been murdering civilians already in uniform, without a hint of sanity or humanity, like the latest events that have occurred in this country,” Matiz expressed.
