In some places in Santa Marta, graffiti appeared that sends a message within the underworld world: the supposed arrival in Santa Marta of the Los Primos criminal group.

We began to hear about this organization of criminals at the beginning of the month, since they were the ones who took credit for the atrocious appearance of a dismembered corpse dumped in the middle of a public street in the urban area of the municipality of Fundación.

We recommend: Andrés Contreras, that was the name of the person who was thrown into a cellar in Fundación

That day, this criminal group left a message in the Styrofoam cellar where the body was, warning other criminals not to try to engage in illegal business or income, as this group would be responsible for murdering them.

According to Lerber Dimas Vásquez, executive director of the PDHAL Platform, which analyzes processes of violence in the Caribbean region, the Cousins are a small organized crime gang, which provides services to the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, also known as the Clan del Golfo. .

“This organized gang is located between Fundación and Aracataca, they are in charge of extortion and the sale of drugs, and they function as a franchise of the AGC in this sector,” explained Lerber Dimas.

He clarified that this gang has no power in Santa Marta, even if it sells its services to the AGC (Clan del Golfo). According to Lerber Dimas, with these graffiti, “someone seeks to instill terror in Santa Marta.”

We recommend: Who are the Cousins, allegedly responsible for the atrocious crime in Fundación?

The concern that this generates is that the escalation of violence that has been occurring in other places in the department will spread and worsen in the Sierra Nevada area and in the urban area of the city of Santa Marta.

Tracking.co He consulted the mayor of Santa Marta, Carlos Pinedo Cuello, about this concern, who stated that “this was one of the great weaknesses found in the district. The security policy was a failure.”

“Of the 215 cameras that were installed, none are useful; we are repairing them. We are coordinating with the National Police, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Army to restore security in the district. The Samarians rest assured that we will take out Los Cousins, the brothers-in-law and all the bandits. The full weight of the Law will fall on them. The Police will have all the tools to make this happen,” said the mayor.
