The Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training has executed 95% of the 2021 Bioclimatization Plan which is being carried out in Andalusian educational centers in order to improve their thermal and environmental conditions through bioclimatic techniques and the use of renewable energies. Of the total of 430 actions included in this program, 407 works have already been completedand therefore functioning in schools and institutes and, the rest in execution.

According to a note, counselor Patricia del Pozo has said in Parliament that this measure aims to improve thermal and environmental conditions in Andalusian educational centers through bioclimatic techniques and the use of renewable energy. In Córdoba, as well as in Almería, Jaén and Huelva, it has been completed now 100% of the scheduled actions. In the case of the province of Cordoba, there have been completed 93 actions with a total investment of more than 28 million euros.

This plan is the first in history that addresses bioclimatization in a global way in the public educational system of Andalusia, and which was previously piloted in 24 other educational centers.

Global investment of 140 million

In her speech, the counselor explained that the 2021 Bioclimatization plan has a global investment around the 140 million of euros. Furthermore, he has pointed out that The educational centers have been selected based on objective criteria. Thus, those centers located in areas with greater climatic severity in summer are prioritized after a technical assessment that takes into account aspects such as the possible previous existence of air conditioning equipment or the general condition of the building, among others.

The Plan aims to guarantee habitable conditions and thermal comfort in a respectful and sustainable manner, as well as reduce the carbon footprint throughout the useful life of buildings, contributing to the fight against climate change.

For this, adiabatic refrigeration facilities are designed to condition them with bioclimatic techniques. This installation is also accompanied by the implementation of photovoltaic solar panels for the production of electrical energy. In this way, the aim is to cover both the air conditioning needs in the centers as well as those for savings, sustainability and energy efficiency.

The solar panels installed through this plan will add a surface area of 86,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels (equivalent to more than 8 football fields) and their global installed power will be 6.45 megawatts, which will allow a reduction in CO emissions.2 into the atmosphere of 6,264 tons per year.
