Vehicles will be able to reach urban and rural areas of the commune.
Six mobile vaccination centers for the Iquique commune will be acquired by the municipality, after the Tarapacá Regional Council chaired by Governor José Miguel Carvajal, approved more than 446 million pesos ($M 446,250) from the National Regional Development Fund (FNDR) .
The project presented by the municipality seeks to improve the quality, access and coverage of vaccination for the population of the urban area and rural areas dependent on primary health care in the regional capital.
In addition, these vehicles will allow current operations to be optimized, solving the difficulties that limit the time of field activities, with the aim of expanding hourly availability and, finally, making a leap in the quality of health care.
“As we have committed to 2024, the emphasis is important on health. This is ratified by the concern we have to reinforce primary care in the communes and, especially in Iquique, where we know that the movement of older adults to care centers often causes risks of contagion, for example,” said the governor. Carvajal.
The authority reiterated “The commitment is to strengthen public health not only in equipment, but also in infrastructure, vehicles and, above all, with medical specialists who can be trained in the region through the future School of Medicine that we want to install in Tarapacá.”
During the administration of Governor Carvajal, the Regional Government of Tarapacá went from allocating $1.7 billion annually to Health projects; to $4.6 billion; almost triple the annual average, a figure that was highlighted by the first regional authority.
