The executive director of ANDIS, Dr. Diego Spagnuolo, welcomed a new assembly of the Federal Disability Council and announced the central theme of this new edition on the “National Disability Survey” by the national director of Social Statistics and Population of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC), Gladys Masse.

Quickly, the national director for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities, Romina Núñez, took the floor and, after greeting each of the provincial authorities and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, presented the report on the new ENDI.

“The objective of the current agreement between the National Disability Agency and the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses is to develop a new National Disability Survey (ENDI) and prepare statistical reports between both organizations,” explained Dr. Núñez and added that it was agreed this theme for the first COFEDIS of the year “to ensure the participation and collection of contributions from all regions, both OGs and NGOs.”

At the same time, he assured that “the results and contributions made during the assembly will be systematized” by the ANDIS Statistics and Social Research area with the collaboration of the National Directorate of Inclusion “to share it with all regions.”

Then, Dr. Gladys Margarita Masse shared a PowerPoint presentation on the methodology used to collect information about the disabled population in Argentina through surveys specifically conducted with trained personnel.

On the other hand, the director of the Directorate of Educational Information belonging to the Ministry of Education of the Nation, María Laura Alonso, together with Leandro Bottinelli, a member of the Coordination of Educational Research, also participated in the meeting, providing a report on the current situation of the children. with disabilities in schools.

During this first assembly of the year, authorities were also elected such as the vice presidency of COFEDIS, which was headed by the non-governmental representative of Jujuy, Facundo Mota Córdoba; the governmental and non-governmental representatives both before the National Fund for the Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities and before the board of the basic benefits system for people with disabilities and the substitute non-governmental representative before the technical committee for guide or assistance dogs.

Finally, the provincial government representatives provided their reports on the status of each of the regions and the National Disability Agency detailed a report on the status of each of the national directorates that comprise it. Immediately afterwards, the provinces submitted a series of specific queries that were answered by the executive director of ANDIS and president of the Council, Dr. Spagnuolo in the company of Dr. Núñez.

At the end of the 99th Assembly, it was agreed that the next executive committee will determine the date, place, modality and agenda of the next assembly, which will be number 100.

The Federal Disability Council is a space for dialogue and public policy planning, where representatives of government agencies and civil society organizations from each of the provinces aim to consider the issue of disability as a transversal axis of the lines of action of the national, provincial and municipal governments.
