New Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment appointed › Cuba › Granma

The Council of State, at the proposal of the President of the Republic and prior approval of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC, agreed to carry out the following cadre movements:

1. Release Comrade Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz from his responsibilities as Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, who will continue to serve as Deputy Prime Minister of the Government.

2. Appoint comrade Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, current first vice minister of the organization, as Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.

Comrade Pérez-Oliva, 53 years old, is an electronic engineer. He has extensive management experience accumulated for more than 15 years in foreign trade activity, as a company director, vice minister in this organization and director of Business Evaluation in the Mariel Special Development Zone.

Likewise, the appointment of colleague Carlos Luis Jorge Méndez as first vice minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment was approved by the Government of the Republic.

Carlos Luis Jorge Méndez, 36 years old, has a degree in Economics and has held different responsibilities in Foreign Trade activity, from specialist, advisor to the Minister, General Director of Foreign Investment and current vice minister of this organization.
