Popular pot in front of the ANSES against the adjustment of Javier Milei

A new protest took place this Thursday in Cipolletti against the adjustment ordered by the national government of Javier Milei and against the Bases Law that is being debated in Congress, within the framework of the national teaching strike ordered by the Confederation of Education Workers (CTERA) in demand of a greater educational budget.

The demonstration included a popular potluck and took place outside the ANSES offices located at 1021 La Esmeralda Street. It was called by the local branch of the Unter and had the participation of the Teachers Association of the National University of Comahue (ADUNC) and social groups such as Rebel Dignity and the Front of Organizations in Struggle (FOLIO).

The Unter delivered a note to the national organization in which they once again demanded the repeal of the teacher retirement moratorium.

But in the previous event they questioned both the Milei and provincial governments for the cuts imposed on the educational system and highlighted the state in which some of them find themselves. school buildingslike the secondary school in the Anai Mapu neighborhood that still could not start classes in person because it doesn’t have gas.

In addition, they demanded that the union centers implement a “true” fighting plan, like the one that is happening in Misiones, and not “killing strikes.” Regarding the measure of force this Thursday, they highlighted that in the Cipoleños establishments it was total.

A FOL representative warned that the social crisis is worsening in the neighborhoods and stressed that the suspension of food delivery by the state to community kitchens harms many families, especially children and the elderly.

He mentioned as an example the Antártida Argentina neighborhood, where “children and elderly people go to ask for food because they are hungry,” and lamented that “we cannot supply them because they cut off our delivery in November of last year.”

Lilia Calderón, from Dignidad Rebelde, expressed herself with the same tone, who also made a passionate call to resist the libertarian model with the unity of all sectors.

The leader also explained that they would request a meeting with ANSES authorities to request details about the procedure that must be carried out by the beneficiaries who received the Empower Work plan, which was annulled and replaced by Return to Work and Social Accompaniment. She maintained that they have to register again through a phone application, but clarified that not everyone has a cell phone.

While Erwin Parra, head of the local ADUNC, referred to the budget reduction that the central government ordered for national universities and warned about the “negotiations” that are being proposed in the National Congress, which is debating the projects that seek to declare the budget emergency and update the items for public national universities and to reestablish the National Teaching Incentive Fund (FONID).

He pointed out to the UCR deputies and as a bargaining chip the votes to approve the Bases Law.

Normal care

While the protest was taking place, ANSES personnel continued working. Although the protesters settled in the front of the building, where they installed posters and banners and improvised a kitchen where they cooked a stew, the people who went to do paperwork could enter and leave without problems.

During the morning they cut off vehicular traffic in both directions on La Esmeralda Street. A police commission was installed at the scene, but they only limited themselves to observing.
