“We want to give a strong boost to this demand for the urgency so that the national route is passable; today it is not. Furthermore, we seek to ensure that this important road corridor for our province is safe and that progress is made in expanding the lanes because the number of vehicles and trucks that travel through there warrants it,” explained deputy Pablo Farías, author of the initiative.

Route 11 and a “deplorable state of the road”

Farías mentioned the background of the multi-sector meeting held in Malabrigo, convened by the Ombudsmen of Santa Fe and Chaco, where mayors and community presidents from the entire route of Route No. 11 participated, as well as provincial legislators from different groups. “All of us present agree on the deplorable state of the roadway, its absolute lack of maintenance and the urgent need for repair in view of the number of accidents and problems that its deterioration causes to those who use it daily to get around and, in larger scale, to transporters”.

For his part, Dionisio Scarpín highlighted that “There is a community that has joined the claim” and the call for a public hearing “It is one more action for the national government to become aware that the people who travel along this route risk their lives and cannot wait any longer.. The provincial government is fighting in this direction but we still do not see concrete actions. We understand that joining forces is extremely important to raise awareness among the Nation.”

Representative Charo Mancini, for her part, agreed that the public hearing reinforces the support of the provincial claim before the Nation to repair a route “that has enormous potholes, that suffered the impact of the water emergency on the route, the lack of signage, poor condition of bridges and guardrails. We demand our right to travel safely and without fear of losing our lives.”
