San Juan and San Pedro, a party from the soul of Huila

The launch of the sixty-third bambuco festival in the city of Bogotá was held with full capacity, at the Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo theater.

Cultural wealth was experienced this Wednesday night in Bogotá. A gastronomic and tourist exhibition welcomed the special guests of this important event, which marked the beginning of the bamboo festival. The masters of ceremony, Javier Leyton and Margarita Rojas, presenters from Huila, were in charge of highlighting the emotion and pride of being opitas.

The governor of Huila, Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera, and the mayor of Neiva, Germán Casagua Bonilla, opened the emblematic launch of the festivities of San Juan and San Pedro. Mayor Casagua highlighted in his speech the beauty of the Sanjuanero dance as a symbol of the cultural wealth of the region: “I come with pride representing my land, Neiva, Huila. In a few minutes, in the middle of this beautiful gala, you will contemplate a dance and a song that will make your hearts reverberate. Our typical dance has eight figures that represent the love and feelings of our people. Let me invite you to live this cultural history with us. Today, Neiva unfolds her flower skirt. “Neiva is beautiful, warm and eager to receive you with love,” he claimed.

For his part, Governor Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera offered a historical context of the Bambuco Festival, extolling the richness of the Huila territory and inviting the country and the world to join the festivities in the department of Huila. “The festivities that we are promoting tonight are a cultural heritage that we have preserved and that are part of Huila Grande. The festivities of San Pedro will always be a space for reunion with our huilensidad. Our friendly people know how to welcome tourists and make them feel at home. “This is an invitation to all Colombians to come and enjoy the 63rd version of the Bambuco Festival in San Juan and San Pedro, where we will wait for you with open arms,” express.

The Julio Mario Santo Domingo Theater received numerous people from all over the country and from various sectors, including politicians, artists, queens from different municipalities of Huila, national queens and the Opita colony based in Bogotá. The event was attended by prominent cultural representatives.

The creators and artistic directors of this release were Diego Omar Flórez Lugo, Sonia Juliana Gómez Villamizar and Claudia Patricia Peña Rivera. The artistic groups that delighted the attendees with their display of huilensidad, along with the Huila Symphonic Band, the Rumichaca folkloric group, the Sonia Gómez International Folkloric Ballet, the Candileja Arde Folclor troupe, traditional children’s and adult bambuco couples, couples of adult Huilense corridor and the singer Édison Elías Delgado Montenegro.

This launch was the opening of what will be the bambuco festival in San Juan and San Pedro, which will take place from June 14 to July 1.

The event was organized by the government of Huila headed by Governor Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera, the secretary of culture of the department Betsabé Polanía and the director of Corposanpedro, Adriana Rojas Salazar.
