“Argentine Music for the May Celebration” will include a tribute to the Faculty of Medicine.

A double birthday celebration will take place today at the Alberdi theater (Crisóstomo Álvarez and Jujuy), starting at 9:30 p.m.: “Argentine Music for the May Celebration” will bring together the event for the 214 years of the national day and the tribute to the Faculty of UNT Medicine in its 75th year.

The chosen repertoire will have two parts. The Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Roberto Buffowill offer works by two composers from Tucumán: the “Tango Movement” by Juan Carlos Grupalliand the premiere of the Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra by Ramon Victor Juarezwith Alejandro Olivares in the role of soloist, with a “purely nationalist” profile, with chacarera, zamba and criolla milonga rhythms,” Buffo advances. Then, the Faculty of Medicine Choir, directed by Mariana Stambolewill perform “Mujeres Argentinas” by Ariel Ramirez and Felix Lunaaccompanied by a chamber formation made up of Buffo, Mathias Aguero Hintz, Raul Martin, Maximiliano Pérez, Adolfo Palomino and Agustín Díaz Segoviawith staging Deborah Prchal and María José Stefani.

Stambole recalled that “between 1998 and 2006, the choir developed its activity independently and at the end of that year an agreement was reached with the faculty; Then, by resolution of the Board of Directors, it was established as an organization dependent on its Extension Secretariat, because the Faculty always aspired to have a vocal group within its activities.”

“We have a high sense of belonging. Last year we celebrated 25 years of experience as a vocational group and now we celebrate 75 years of our Faculty, on the eve of the commemoration of our first national government. Therefore, this concert honors and inspires us and has a deep meaning for us, all the more in the current situation,” he added.

The director vindicated the chosen cantata: “it expresses that history records much more of the male protagonists in the struggles for freedom, democracy, and human rights than of women, despite the fact that they were involved with equal or greater intellectual and commitment. factual reason for which they had to avoid prejudices, mandates, codes of conduct and gender impositions. This work is avant-garde from a musical point of view, but fundamentally from a conceptual point of view. Each character is redefined in the current women (and those to come) who work tirelessly to build a more equitable horizon,” she concluded.
