It is always auspicious to know about initiatives that tend to the common good, solidarity and the teaching of values. In this sense, sports often provide effective and necessary social safe conduct. The social rugby program that the Provincial Institute for the Fight against Alcoholism (IPLA) launched in 2015, called A Pass to Glory, is a clear example of the above. The valuable thing looking to the future is that an extension of its scope is expected to include those who practice other disciplines, such as hockey, basketball and volleyball.

Teams of people trained for this purpose by at least three clubs in Tucumán usually do conscientious work from the childhood stage, to transmit the wide range of rugby values. It is true that many times this task has other entities mobilized, it is also a gesture of will that cannot be sustained over time, something that will undoubtedly have to be reviewed. But this is not the case with Un Pase a la Gloria, which began to be implemented in Lawn Tennis and later spread to Tucumán Rugby and Cardenales.

This initiative is a space of containment for children and young people, from four to 18 years old, in vulnerable situations. It uses rugby as a tool to transmit values of coexistence and development of personal skills. Today it works with more than a hundred people of this age range who live in vulnerable neighborhoods near the headquarters of the aforementioned clubs, such as Villa 9 de Julio, Barrio Sarmiento, Lola Mora, San Cayetano, La Rinconada and Diagonal Norte, among others. others.

For more details, attendees attend twice a week to participate in days divided into three parts: sports practice; workshops and recreational activities, and snack. An aspect that adds value to A Pass to Glory is that it served as a reference point for another inclusive rugby proposal, A Pass to Freedom, which has been carried out for several years in the Villa Urquiza prison.

In essence, this program, which is part of the proposals of the IPLA Awareness project, will now cover volleyball, basketball and hockey with the idea that more children will turn to sports or any cultural activity that is contemplated in the plan.

No one escapes the fact that the country is going through a difficult economic situation, which among other things generates frustration and depression in families. And that one of the quickest and most accessible escapes from this reality is alcohol, this being a socially permitted drug. According to IPLA data, the average age of starting regular alcohol consumption fell from 16 to 13 years. Hence, it is essential to act and this type of program plays a fundamental role in this. The prevention messages that are made on a daily basis about alcohol consumption are very important. Initiatives such as A Pass to Glory, its expansion and visibility, are equally relevant.
