Cienfuegos, Cuba– The Africa and Cuba Day: History and Culture, sponsored by the Nelson Mandela Chair: African and Caribbean Studies, at the Carlos Rafael Rodríguez University, was inaugurated and will run until May 25, World Africa Day.

A program of unity and solidarity with the African continent initiated in the Delegation of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP) through the conference Interculturality and Solidarity: Africa and Cuba given by the Ecuadorian-North American Lenin Chiliquinga from Montgomery County, USA.

He declared that his heart is Cuban due to ties of brotherhood and common ideology in this beacon of humanity and hope in Socialism, for a better world.

“Despite the needs that exist, he noted, both in the Health, Education and other sectors due to the blockade, and the embargo of more than 60 years by the United States. “I am convinced that this is the correct policy.”

He spoke about Internationalism, interculturality and the influence of African culture in the world and in Cuba.

“How transculturation has influenced Cuban identity, he specified, and how we can now work with interculturality to seal those ties between the different cultures in Cuba and with other African cultures in the world.”

It includes an African Poster and Photography Contest, the results of which will be announced on the 25th.

A Parade will take place from the Prado to the José Martí Park, where a wreath will be laid in front of the monument to the Apostle. They will celebrate the Mother Africa Cultural Peña.
