With delivery of sacred Teyku property, Cuestecitas – Copey – Foundation interconnection project continues its progress

Aspect of the ceremony of handing over the sacred property allows the electrical interconnection project to continue its course.

With the participation of mamos (spiritual guides), authorities and leaders of the town communities arhuaco, as well as directors of ISA Intercolombiaa harmonization ritual was carried out to formalize the delivery of a property as an initiative arising from the Prior Consultation agreements.

In this way, the property is now legally in the possession of the ethnic community, as part of the sociocultural compensation of the agreements reached in the prior consultation of the Cuestecitas Copey – Fundación Interconnection project at 500 and 220 thousand volts.

This is located on the sidewalk The Mercedes of the township Snail, in Valledupar and is part of La Línea Negra, a concept that delimits indigenous ancestral territories, considered a meeting point of other sacred spaces that link the four indigenous peoples of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta: Kogui, Arhuaco, Wiwa and Kankuamos.

The delivery and harmonization of Teyku represented for his general manager, Carlos Mario Caro Sáncheza gesture of respect towards the ethnic communities, their culture and traditions, in addition to strengthening the ties they have maintained with the Arhuacos over the years.

The Arhuaco leader, Ramón Alberto Hernández Zalabataexplains the relevance of this energetic epicenter of high importance for its culture, spirituality and nature.

In a harmonization ritual, a 40-hectare property was delivered as part of the sociocultural compensation of the Cuestecitas – Copey – Foundation Interconnection project. Another of the actions agreed with the Arhuaco people and associated with Teyku is the “Jaguar Plan”, an initiative that was born from Conexión Jaguar, the program of ISA and its companies, which seeks the conservation and restoration of forests to protect biodiversity. .

These actions reinforce the commitment they have with the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and demonstrate that it is possible to move towards sustainable energy development in the country. ISA Intercolombia is currently constructing this key project for the country’s energy transition as it will help evacuate the non-conventional renewable energies that will be installed in the La Guajira area, which will increase the installed capacity of the generation park of the National Interconnected System (SIN). Likewise, it will also improve the reliability of the service in the departments of La Guajira, Cesar and Magdalena.
