Figaro, the ingenuity of love
This Friday and Sunday, in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Exact Sciences (Av. Vélez Sarsfield 299) the In Crescendo company premieres its performance of Mozart’s comic opera The Marriage of Figaro, with a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte. The stage director José Luis Moreno points out that the staging “is worked from humor and gag, with very funny situations typical of a vaudeville.” The general direction is Marcela Benedetti, a renowned singer and teacher from Córdoba, who brings together her professional students in In Crescendo Compañía Lírica, and invites professional singers with extensive experience for this production. The loves and disaffections of the Counts of Almaviva and their servants: Figaro, Susanna and Cherubino, are full of intrigue, misunderstandings, hidden identities and situations to inevitably laugh.
Starring, among others, are Marcos Abalos Luna/Federico Finocchiaro (they alternate in the role of the Count of Almaviva); Melani Figueroa/ Sabrina Paterno (The Countess of Almaviva), Rosario Goldaracena/ Julieta Fassi (Susanna, Figaro’s fiancee) and Leonardo Pérez/ Luciano Castillo (in the role of Figaro). The musical direction is carried out by Juan Manuel Brarda and Esteban Conde; with teacher Andrea Mellía and teacher Daniel Villegas on piano.
At 8 p.m., advance tickets at Rubén Libros (Deán Funes 163) and through alpogo.com with a general cost of $6,000; and $8000 at the door before the show. There will be more performances on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8, at the same time and place.

Many poetry solos
Some fifty artists and intellectuals from Córdoba will give voice to a poetic vigil of eight consecutive hours titled Davos in Winter, today from 11 a.m. on Paseo Santa Catalina (Deán Funes and Vélez Sarsfield). The initiative adds up to a manifestation of resistance determined to strengthen culture, that daily bread, air of all times, expression of (genuine) freedom that runs through human history and constitutes us as a culture. Philosophers, writers, journalists, filmmakers, actors and actresses, social scientists and people from many other disciplines and professions will be filling an everyday space in the center of Córdoba with words that have no price, nor do they enter into budget calculations, nor generate hunger, no hate, no idiotic robotic repetitions, no fake news. An urban soundscape of beautiful, solid, critical words that alert and awaken, that reveal and remember things that are perhaps dormant.
Those who pass by that place, or want to add their presence as an audience, will be able to accompany those whispers and those braided screams on an autumn Friday just because, because it is possible and necessary in a subtle way, in Córdoba, close to winter, far from Davos.

Electronics among ruins
At the UNC Cultural Center (Duarte Quirós 107), Paseo Córdoba de la Nueva Andalucía, the second edition of the Viernes de Ruinas cycle continues, which invites you to live an audiovisual experience where electronic music and visual arts provide a conceptual encounter starring by figures from the local scene. You can enjoy a figure from the slopes such as DJ Acid Paz, bringing an electronic arc that makes ports in the techno as in the acid house. Hypnotic rhythms, movements just meters from the ruins of the 18th century, dystopian moments open to non-everyday sensations. The special menu of drinks to taste provided by Vermutería 1786 contributes. Starting at 8 p.m., free entry.

Journey to the sense of the body
The Comedia Cordobesa premieres this Friday at the Teatro Real (San Jerónimo 66) the play Útero Bicorne, a play by Brenda Sorbera, also director of the production. The one-person piece proposes an intimate journey through the anatomical makeup of a woman, Eliana, born with a uterine malformation. This condition becomes, in the scene, a criticism of the mandates on the female body and its functions, not from nature but from social pressure. It is about putting the very meaning of normality on trial. On stage: Patricia Rojo. At 8:30 p.m., general admission $1,500 at autoentrada.com and at the theater box office.

Big Band, a program from Córdoba
The Córdoba Jazz Orchestra, a jazz Big Band focused on the original music of Córdoba composers, is presented at the Córdoba Cultural Center (Poeta Lugones 401), with a concert whose program highlights works by local creators of projection, such as Fernando Huergo, Milton Arias, Richard Nant, Lucas Acuña, Pedro Giraudo and Cristian Andrada, dressed in innovative arrangements specially written for this orchestra by its musical director Nicolás Ocampo. It will be from 8 pm. General admission $5000 at autoentrada.com and from one hour before the show, at the box office.

One work, three authors
The audiovisual work Verde Verdad, a collaboration by Dolores Esteve, Constanza Pellicci and Christian Román made in the same space in 2022-2023, premieres at the Genaro Pérez Museum (Av. Gral. Paz 33). Its creators converge on the purpose of fusing their practices and poetics into a unique interdisciplinary work, the result of a joint effort. The work is precisely about this collective authorship, questioning the limits, the procedures and the concept of aesthetic unity that transcends individual sensitivity. Today at 7 p.m. the only presentation of this piece takes place, with free admission.

Hugo and Fernando, synergy
Hugo Fattoruso and Fernando Cabrera will light up the Studio Theater stage (Rosario de Santa Fe 272) tomorrow, Saturday, with their songs. Two Uruguayan heroes, so close, so endearing, come to Córdoba on tour, with the simplicity of the greats, to share the joy of making good music. Fernando on guitar and voice, Hugo on piano (and sometimes on accordion) will cover songs by both that enrich the South American repertoire and awaken due emotions. At 8pm, tickets from $20,000.
