Neivan gastronomy, tradition and innovation • La Nación

The wide gastronomic offer in the capital of Huila has allowed the exploration of new ways of seeing and enjoying food in the city. With bets such as Gran Vinos Restaurante, which brings innovation to the palate, and Restaurante Avenida, which maintains tradition, Neiva has become a benchmark for gastronomic development.

Neiva, without a doubt, is a great reference for gastronomy at the departmental level and, why not, nationally. This has allowed us to focus on places that are emblematic, traditional or innovative, that creatively and always maintaining the tradition of the great variety of opita food, offer options for all palates with even international recipes.

Thus, as one of the emblematic places of the city, it is Gran Vinos Restaurante; a complete gastronomic tradition of Neiva. Carlos Alberto Ramos Ramírez, together with his wife Patricia Fernández Ruíz, with discipline and a lot of vision, decided to move the restaurant from its location in the El Altico neighborhood, to the premises located on the ground floor of the La Gaitana Monument, on Circunvalar Avenue, from where they have not stopped providing a unique space for the people of Neiva, together to enjoy Spanish food, seafood and opita.

What makes Gran Vinos so important and unique, in addition to its very avant-garde decoration and aesthetics, is the possibility that you can permanently observe the majestic Magdalena River, turning the place into an original space that injects sophistication into the city.

Avenida Restaurant, with more than 30 years of tradition in the life of Neiva residents.

Another of the places of gastronomic tradition in the city is the Avenida Restaurant, with 31 years of constant work at the hands of Jorge Rodríguez. This emblematic place has become a landmark of Neivan gastronomy, and a meeting place for important figures in national and regional politics, as well as foreigners, tourists and visitors. The highlight of the Avenue is the chicken a la cabin, with 69 years of tradition.

These places have managed to remain in the city over time and be part of the tradition of the Neivans, bringing with them new experiences when it comes to delighting tastes, without leaving aside the wide spectrum of food possibilities that the city offers. The same city of Neiva, which, through gastronomy, during the 412 years of its founding, has been committed to the development and recognition of the Huilense capital.

Neiva, culinary tradition

Neiva has to offer locals and tourists a very wide variety of typical and representative foods, among which we can find the well-known Huilense barbecue, goat stew, bizcochuelo, the traditional Huilense tamal, juanvalerio and achiras.

These have been present in all the years of the city’s history and in each of its traditional celebrations Neivan delicacies are never lacking, thus making these foods an important part when talking about the development and culture of the city. .

Outstanding: Neiva, without a doubt, is a great reference for gastronomy at the departmental level and, why not, nationally. This has allowed us to focus on places that are emblematic, traditional or innovative.
