The Provincial Water Company of Córdoba (Emproacsa) has started the works to renew comprehensively the fiber cement supply network on San José de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo streetwhich was in very poor condition due to its age, which has been producing a high incidence of breakdowns in recent months.

In fact, on September 27, 2023, the public company of the Provincial Council of Córdoba sent a letter to the Peñarriblense City Council warning of the bad network status supply of the aforementioned road and its necessary intervention. The letter, as reported by the provincial institution, did not receive a response from the City Council until December 2023.

Previously, in November 2023, the City Council had sent a letter to Emproacsa requesting an intervention on Garibaldi Street, which is also being attended to by the public company with the drafting of the project.

The manager of Emproacsa, Manuel Martinheld a meeting with the mayor of the town, Víctor Manuel Pedregosa (PSOE), in which he urged him to establish the priorities of the pending interventions in Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, since both San José and Garibaldi were contemplated and included in the Emproacsa’s 2024 investment plan for this municipality in the Alto Guadiato region.

The work on San José Street raises the renovation of the two road pavements, with a total of 450 meters of new 16 DN90 HDPE pipe, as well as the 55 corresponding connections on both sides. The work, which began on May 20, bringing forward the initial start date by two weeks, represents an investment of more than 40,000 euros and will benefit a hundred local residents. The action is expected to be completed within a period of two months.

Investments

The Provincial Council of Córdoba has indicated that since Emproacsa assumed the integral water cycle of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo in October 2022, they have been allocated 610,288 euros in investments to the improvement of the water supply, sanitation and purification service.

Only 319,921 euros have been invested in replacement, repair and breakdown tasks, while 27,188 euros have been allocated to cleaning nets and scuppers. The provincial water company has also injected 27,789 euros to detect leaks in the network and another 16,153 euros in inspection tasks.

The investment made in the purification systems, for its part, has been estimated at more than 158,000 euros, to solve the worrying situation of the facilities from an industrial and environmental point of view, which Emproacsa had to overcome when it took over. management in October 2022.
