Havana, May 24 (RHC) In the face of complex times, culture once again rises as an alternative with the start of the Theater Festival in the city of Camagüey.

In one of the most important artistic squares in the largest of the Antilles, the event “Between gestures and words” takes place as part of the Festival itself, which on this occasion is dedicated to María Julia González, cultural specialist and prominent professional of artistic teaching.

Precisely in statements to Prensa Latina, the head of Artistic Education of the Provincial Directorate of Culture referred to the importance of these meetings.

“That it is dedicated to me gives me a lot of pride and pleasure, in addition to being a great commitment to the Culture House System, to which I have dedicated 35 years of work,” he said.

Who was a pioneer of art instructors in Cuba, also expressed that “there were many years dedicated to the House of Culture system, the most noble, most sensitive and most humanistic that Cuban culture has.”

The honoree assured that it is this artistic movement that reaches different age groups, more remote spaces, or socially disadvantaged spaces.

Despite the effects of transculturation and the sale of the industry, which is not always of the best values for the consumption of art itself, Cuba seeks to return to the roots of its idiosyncrasy with events of this type.

“Although there are multiple difficulties and shortcomings, this is the system that touches the most sensitive fiber of the soul of each of the Cubans.”

An extensive program that includes recognition of the “Clara Narration” project, as well as presentations of plays that will reach educational centers such as the Vicentina de la Torre Academy of Arts, will animate the Festival.

Cuba has a broad movement in culture and the arts, a bastion for the sovereignty of traditions, a shield for the preservation of national identity, regardless of any economic contingency. (Source: Prensa Latina)
