We work with businessmen to position ourselves as the important city in the south of the country: Mayor Neiva

With the arrival last January of Mayor Germán Casagua Bonilla to the city of Neiva, efforts are focused on turning that territory into one of the most prominent in the south of the country. This was clarified by the president in the microphones of Caracol Radio. For this, according to the local official, they are working with businessmen. In addition, he commented on the panorama of the city.

In the middle of the interview, the mayor pointed out that it has not been easy to advance projects in the city due to the issue of centralism, but that considerable efforts are being made to achieve it. “We have a very difficult situation. We all know that there is enormous centralism in this country and that is a secret to no one. Therefore, the efforts that are being carried out are great, we have knocked on doors, and presented projects.”

“We hope that our requests are attended to. In addition, we have presented several projects and in some they have already told us that they will support us. We hope they materialize, because we have already gone to eradicate them in Bogotá,” he mentioned.

On the other hand, he explained that although there is concern about dissidence, a way is being sought to protect citizens. “We have had very great difficulties with the issue of groups outside the law, of dissidents and guerrilla groups. They have affected some businessmen and merchants. For this reason, we have called on the National Government to make it clear at these dialogue tables that they remove the civilian population from the acts of reprisals against our citizens, Neiva has been affected.”

For the mayor, the dissidence would be affecting Neiva due to the ceasefire. “We continue with the firm intention of moving forward with a great city. The issue of lifting the ceasefire in some neighboring departments undoubtedly made these groups come here. The call we have made to the national government is that, please, at these dialogue tables they quickly demand that they leave the civilian population still and calm.”
