In the development of military operations against the illicit exploitation of mining deposits framed within the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan -Time 2- in the rural area of Cértegui, Chocó, in the last hours the Military Forces, with the support of the Police, located and they destroyed two illegal mining production units, with machinery and elements with which this crime against the environment was carried out.

Equipment known as “Brazilian dragons”, industrial motors and industrial motor pumps, which had an approximate value of $2,500,000,000, were seized at the site. These elements were used for the extraction of alluvial gold, which had an estimated production of 3,600 grams of gold per month, with a value of close to $890,000,000.

In this way, the illicit economies of the Del Golfo Clan are affected by more than $500,000,000 as a result of the illegal collection.

The illicit exploitation of minerals through these elements has been carried out without having the legal mining title, stipulated in Law 685 of 2001, of the Mining Code, which has affected not only natural resources, but also the well-being and security of the families who live and legally benefit from these water sources, elements that deteriorate the vegetation layer and contaminate the water sources of the region.

With these results, a significant reduction in the environmental impact is achieved, in addition to hitting the logistical and criminal networks of illegal groups that commit crimes in this area of the Colombian Pacific.

In that region, the Military Forces strengthened the security device with the objective of continuing to locate these illegal mining units.
