• The Bike Circuit-Bogotá Region has an extension of more than 300 kilometers. It is an opportunity for tourists, visitors and citizens to explore this experience of sports and nature tourism on two wheels.

• The route has more than 40 tourist attractions, urban areas, panoramic and nature views, gastronomic and cultural offerings, as well as a wealth of flora and fauna.

Bogotá, May 23, 2024. Since May 25, the Bogotá Region Bike Circuit has been reactivated, pioneering as it is the only perimeter route around a capital city in Latin America.

“Bogotá has a great offer of nature, 75% of the city is rural area and we also have the entire regional component. The reactivation of the Bike Circuit-Bogotá Region allows professional athletes, amateurs and tourists to connect with the green environment of the capital. The route crosses two rural towns such as Usme and Ciudad Bolívar and connects with 15 municipalities in Cundinamarca. It is an opportunity to do sports and active tourism by bicycle, enjoy the landscapes, the gastronomic and cultural offering that characterizes our Bogotá-Region,” said Andrés Santamaría, director of the District Tourism Institute.

This bike route of more than 300 kilometers, crosses the towns of Usme and Ciudad Bolívar and connects with 15 municipalities of Cundinamarca: Bojacá, Chipaque, Choachí, Guasca, Guatavita, Gachancipá, La Calera, Madrid, Sibaté, Soacha, Tabio, Tenjo , Tocancipá, Ubaque and Zipaquirá.

The cycle tourism route provides a magical experience for professional athletes, amateurs, tourists, visitors and citizens in general, since in addition to promoting sustainable sports on two wheels, it offers more than 40 tourist attractions between natural landscapes and urban spaces, panoramic views, connection with nature and adventure, gastronomic and cultural offer.

The circuit is also made up of eight segments:

1. Río Blanco Canyon: 50.4 km through Choachí and Guasca.
2. Florecer de la Sabana: 39.2 km through Guasca, Gachancipá and Zipaquirá.
3. Champion’s Challenge: 16.6 km.
4. Legendary mountains: 46 km through Zipaquirá, Tabio, Tenjo, Puente Piedra (Madrid).
5. Rocks of origin: 40.5 km through Puente Piedra (Madrid) and Embalse del Muña (Sibaté).
6. From the countryside to the city: 40.7 km through the Muña Reservoir (Sibaté) and Pasquilla in Ciudad Bolívar.
7. Frailejón Trail: 23.8 km through Pasquilla in Ciudad Bolívar, Usme and Chipaque.
8. Camino del Cóndor: 34 km through Chipaque, Ubaque and Choachí.

This bike tourism project is certified by the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA), which ensures the quality and safety of the routes that offer unique experiences, from agricultural landscapes to recreational and contemplative areas, in addition to promoting tourism and recreation and promoting of local economic development.

The reactivation of the circuit will be in charge of the District Institute of Tourism (IDT), the Secretariat of Economic Development, the Government of Cundinamarca, the Departmental Institute of Culture and Tourism of Cundinamarca- IDECUT; The Administrative and Special Planning Region RAPE Central Region; District Institute of Recreation and Sports – IDRD and tourism service providers specialized in bicycle tourism.
