Juan Martín Caicedo, president of the Colombian Chamber of Infrastructure (CCI), presented an action plan aimed at regaining the confidence of investors and reactivating the country’s economy. The plan addresses critical aspects of the infrastructure, including the resolution of technical and financial problems in strategic road corridors such as Quibdó-Medellín, Pasto-Popayán, Bogotá-Villavicencio and the border roads in Santanderes.

Caicedo highlighted the need to move forward with precise goals in the negotiations between the Ministry of Finance and the CCI to ensure the necessary resources for the execution of road concessions under construction. He also highlighted the importance of establishing clear schedules for the bidding and awarding of public initiative projects, such as El Estanquillo-Popayán, Villeta-Guaduas and the La Dorada-Chiriguaná railway corridor.

In his statement, Caicedo emphasized the urgency of accelerating the environmental procedures of 5G projects in the preconstruction stage and the need to proceed cwith the indexation and increase in the toll rates of the concessioned roads.

He also called to accelerate the approval of private road and airport initiatives and to guarantee the viability of strategic works such as the “Autopistas del Caribe” IP concession or the Cartagena-Barranquilla freight corridor. Finally, Caicedo urged to specify the scope of the investment in the “Community Paths for Total Peace” and to promote the financing instrument of “works for taxes”.
