Vendors protest in Hobo after court ruling ordering their relocation

In the municipality of Hobo, oatmeal, cheese and cake sellers carried out a protest early in the morning in the main park, later moving to Route 45 in the Hobo – Gigante section.

The demonstration arises in response to the court ruling that ratifies their eviction and relocation.

The ruling establishes that the sellers have two months to vacate the Simón Bolívar Park and temporarily relocate, with an additional period of three months to define a definitive relocation. The local administration has been instructed to transfer the merchants to the “Parador Turístico” definitively, complying with the sentence.

Mayor Yhon Alber Mora Lizcano stated that he has held three meetings with the vendors’ representatives and that, during a recent hearing, they were given a period of two months to decide on the relocation. “The process consists of three phases: characterization, temporary relocation and definitive relocation,” explained the mayor.

During the protest, the vendors reached an agreement with the mayor and, for the moment, lifted the blockade. They have requested to be temporarily relocated to the municipal plaza while a suitable site for their definitive relocation is determined.

Mayor Mora Lizcano indicated that the possibility of speaking with landowners on Route 45 will be explored to find a solution to the problem. Emphasizing the complexity of the operation of a parador in a variant.
