In association with the Government of Tolima, the UCC launched a program that will benefit more than 2,000 in the territory.

The launch of the ‘Literacy in the Territory’ project from the UCC Ibagué – Espinal, in coordination with the Government of Tolima It is a great initiative, this project is designed to benefit approximately 2,000 people mainly in the PDET (Development Programs with a Territorial Approach) municipalities of Ataco, Chaparral, Planadas and Rioblanco, in the department of Tolima.

​​​With a solid track record in literacy initiatives, the Ibagué – Espinal headquarters has already demonstrated its commitment to education and social development. In 2021, the university successfully implemented the “Literacy in Tolima Unites us” project, which allowed many older people to learn to read and write, thus facilitating the vindication of their rights.

Social Impact and Projection

The new project “Literacy in the Territory” focuses on significantly improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of these municipalities. Literacy not only opens doors to knowledge, but also strengthens the autonomy and exercise of citizens’ rights. Through this effort, it is expected that the beneficiaries will acquire essential skills that will allow them to access better educational and employment opportunities, thus contributing to the comprehensive development of their communities.
