Food Company supports accountability of Villa Clara to the ANPP • Workers

The development of new assortments; as well as the improvement of the image of different units of the Provincial Food Production Company (EPPA) of Villa Clara; They are part of the actions to support the accountability of the territory to the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP), to be held next July. This also contributes to the local self-sufficiency and food and nutritional sovereignty program designed by the country.

Odel Dueñas, provincial director, explained that important measures have been developed in the thirteen municipalities of Villa Clara, in particular the alternative production of foodstuffs from raw materials from agriculture.

“As of April, more than 879 tons of food have been produced, including croquettes, medallions, cassava fritters, sweet potato cakes, preserved fruits, juices, broths, and different assortments made from peanuts. It ventures into pastry and the production of breads with extenders, specifically pumpkin, sweet potato and cassava. We have relied on tradition to make the recipes and on the possibilities of each territory,” he stated.

In particular, he detailed that orchards and plots have been created in the areas that were idle near the entities and that could be planted, mainly adjacent to the bakeries. “In these spaces close to our work centers and that are part of their environment, lettuce, chard, garlic, cabbage, cassava, banana, sweet potato, and beans are planted. These productions are used in the self-sufficiency of these units, sales are made to workers and the population,” he stated.

When explaining how the flour from the non-state sector is used, he explained that 229 tons of different items have been produced with it. Among them he mentioned breads of different formats, shortbreads, cakes, cookies, elbows, noodles, real dough, among others. He also specified that minced meat is used in different formulas to offer nutritious and economical variants to the population.

Dueñas stressed that these actions are essential in this time of contingency and that coordination is carried out with all those involved to increase offers and fulfill the social mandate.

“Our company has the challenge of contributing to the program of local self-sufficiency and food and nutritional sovereignty, as well as supporting the accountability of the territory to the ANPP, these actions respond to both purposes,” he said.

At the same time, he pointed out that it is planned to improve and condition our entities and be part of the image program, especially in Santa Clara, “specifically in Santa Clara, painting actions will be undertaken, improvement of the fault, landscaping arrangement, identification of units that They are located on the perimeter of the Central Highway such as the El Faro, La Única, El Pinto bakeries and the El Panqué establishment.

Added to the above is strict control to avoid deviations and criminal acts or corruption. To this end, night tours and systematic checks of compliance with hygiene measures are carried out, as well as compliance with parameters such as weight and quality of each product.
