The Federal Agricultural Council of the Pampeana Region held the first meeting of the year in the city of Córdoba and the Government of Santa Fe participated through the Minister of Productive Development, Gustavo Puccini. In the meeting led by the Secretary of Bioeconomy of the Nation, Fernando Vilella, and before ministers from the areas of production and agriculture of the provinces of Córdoba, Buenos Aires, and Entre Ríos, Puccini brought forward the premise of debating joint public policies with a federal perspective that allows generating development, growth and stability in the productive sector, understanding that this challenge will be accompanying the countryside and agricultural production.

“It was a very positive meeting. We touch on issues that have to do with agriculture, the problems of corn, the opportunities of the pork sector and the dairy sector,” said Puccini. “From Santa Fe we want to build policies linked to innovation for agriculture and industry together with other provinces. In this scenario, we want to highlight the importance of Santa Fe within the region, taking into account the great bioeconomic development that we have,” remarked the Santa Fe Minister who was accompanied by the Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock, Ignacio Mántaras.

It should be noted that the topics addressed at the conference were stunting of corn, the bioeconomic potential of the provinces, biofuels, international financing, dairy sector, livestock; vaccination against foot and mouth disease; the health status of the livestock, mandatory individual traceability.

In this regard, Vilella said: “We had a very good meeting here in the Pampas Region. We were able to go through an agenda with topics that involve us, from bovine traceability, pork production, dairy farming, and other topics that have to do with the country’s international insertion. That is, a number of useful topics in this exchange with ministers that enrich positions, inform and transmit concerns.”

For his part, Mántaras stated that “we are dealing with a very extensive agenda shared between the provinces and the Nation, with some definitions and tasks to continue working in this institutional framework, taking into account that 80% of the country’s production is in our four provinces. “We understand the importance of this meeting.”

Convened by the Bioeconomy Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation, the Council is a consultative body where criteria are combined and joint state policies and tools are harmonized, also forming technical work commissions on strategic issues that are within the permanent agenda shared by the member provinces of the Federal Council.

The Secretary of Bioeconomy of the Nation, Fernando Vilella, was present on this occasion, along with his team: Santiago Derqui and Patricio Naveyra, Eduardo Terrado, Sebastián Alconada, Nicolás Bronzovich, and Manuel Chiappe. In addition, representing the Nation, the Undersecretary of Agricultural and Forestry Production, Sergio Iraeta, also participated.

Finally, for the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), its vice president, María Beatriz Giraudo, and the Córdoba Regional director, Aquiles Salinas, participated. Meanwhile, for the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA), its president, Pablo Cortese; and the regional director of Córdoba, Gustavo Zabaletta. And the president of the National Seed Institute (INASE), Claudio Dunan.

Federal Agricultural Council

The Federal Agricultural Council was created by National Law 23,843 in 1990 and is an advisory and consultative body of the national government on all issues relevant to the agricultural sector with an impact on regional or provincial economies. It is a federal forum for policy coordination that brings together the highest provincial and national public authorities in agricultural matters.

The authorities of the productive portfolios of the provinces of Córdoba, Buenos Aires and Santa Fe converge in the Pampeana Region.
