Sergio Alejandro Casal, 26, was convicted of trying to steal the motorcycle of a food cadet, whom he attacked with a stick on a public street in the city of Santa Fe.

The sentence was ordered by Judge Lisandro Aguirre, within the framework of a trial in which the procedures that took place yesterday in the provincial capital were shortened.

The prosecutor who investigated what happened is Rosana Peresín, who highlighted that “the criminal conflict was resolved in less than a week.”

Casal was sentenced to four months in prison and was declared a repeat offender after he acknowledged his criminal responsibility as the author of “attempted robbery.” In this sense, he, together with his defense attorney, stated that he agrees with the criminal attribution, the sentence imposed and the decision to shorten the trial procedures.

“Last Saturday around 5:00 p.m., the convicted person carried out his criminal conduct at the intersection of Milenio de Poland and Dr. Zavalla,” said the prosecutor. “With the intention of robbing, he approached a man and a woman who were riding a Honda Wave model motorcycle, which had a box with references to a delivery application,” she explained.

The MPA official reported that “Casal crossed a stick and a window cleaner in front of the vehicle to force the victims to slow down,” and added that “he threatened the driver with harm.”

Meanwhile, he stated that “the frightened man got off the birodado and the attacker then threw the stick in his direction,” and mentioned that “as a result, the victim was injured.”

Likewise, Peresín specified that “although Casal tried to illegitimately appropriate the motorcycle, he was unable to do so for reasons beyond his control,” and clarified that “he was prevented from doing so by the victims and neighbors who came to help them.”

On the other hand, he assessed that “beyond the fact that the convicted person ran from the scene, he was apprehended minutes later on the east side of Peñaloza Avenue and Regis Martínez Street.”
