Workers from Radio Nacional, Télam and the Radio and Television Services of the National University of Córdoba participate this Saturday morning in an Open Radio and a Solidarity Hug to the station located on General Paz and Santa Rosa avenues, in the city of Córdoba.

They ask for the continuity of the Public Media which the government of Javier Milei has closed and/or silenced, through layoffs and blocking of their social networks.

The union action is in repudiation of the “Digital Blackout” carried out by the libertarian-macrista management of the public media, which took out of circulation the websites and social networks of Public Television, all the National Radio stations, and the signals of Encuentro and Paka Paka, to which is added the uncertainty of the employment situation in which the workers of the Télam news agency find themselves.

The demonstration takes place a few hours before the president arrives in the capital of Córdoba. Different social and political organizations are already demonstrating against his management

In the case of the SRT, its owner, the National University of Córdoba, through its authorities, Jhon Boretto and the Superior Council, is once again asked to stop applying the brutal adjustment that has already left 70 people without jobs and they intend to around 60 more leave.

According to the General Secretary of the Circle Union of the Press and Communication of Córdoba (Cispren), Mariana Mandakovic, the objective of the protest is “to tell Milei that Córdoba does not make an agreement. We do not want the DNU, we do not want the Bases Law, and above all also, to defend the public media. Both Radio Nacional that we just hugged, but also said that in a country that does not have its own (news) agency like Télam, it cannot be a sovereign country,” said the leader.

Along these lines, Mandakovic highlighted the importance of the Public Media to “guarantee information for a lot of media that are throughout the country and that without that source of information that the public media has to produce, they cannot exercise freedom of expression.” expression and therefore, consolidate democracy.”

The General Secretary of Cispren highlighted that Radio Nacional has 49 stations “located in key places so that we can guarantee our sovereignty. National Radio reaches places where no other media reaches. From that idea of being able to present what it means to be able to communicate as a necessity for society, Radio Nacional has to continue functioning and there has to be a serious proposal to not empty it or dismantle it as has been done,” he concluded. Mandakovic.
