Alert in 82 Caribbean municipalities due to risk of landslides

According to Ideam, there are 82 municipalities in the Caribbean region on alert that are at high risk of registering a large number of landslides, in the middle of the rainy season that is intensifying with great force in the interior of the country and, thus same, in several areas of the northern Colombian coast.

In that sense, of these 82 municipalities, 23 of them are under red alert, which are distributed as follows: Bolívar (15); Córdoba (3); La Guajira (2); Caesar (1); Magdalena (1); and Sucre (1).

Meanwhile, Daniel Useche, Ideam meteorologist, provided recommendations and assured that. «We must be very attentive to the statements issued by Ideam in the coming days, taking precautionary measures in the midst of this rainy season. “Which is expected to continue generating some effects in different areas of the country.”

On the other hand, he highlighted that “some rains are expected in the national territory and, if so, the Caribbean region will not be the exception.”

Along the same lines, the tributaries that flow into the Gulf of Morrosquillo, at the height of the municipalities, are also under red alert. From: San Onofre, Tolú, Coveñas, Palmitos, Tolú Viejo, Chalán, Colosó, Morroa and Sincelejo due to the high probability of sudden floods in these areas.

Finally, the tributaries that flow into the Sinú River, near the municipality of Lorica (Córdoba). In the last hours, a red alert was declared due to the serious threat of overflows.
