The National Meteorological Service (SMN) anticipated a Saturday with the presence of the sun and very cold throughout the province of Entre Ríos.

Starting at 9 in the morning, the protocol acts will begin with the raising of the flag in the Plaza San Martín, a flower delivery and the subsequent Tedeum in the San José Cathedral.

Meanwhile, at 11 a.m., the mayor began the official ceremony at the Corsódromo by saying some allusive words. Then, it was time for the parades of flag bearers and bodyguards, of the Armed and Security Forces and of the Traditionalist Groups. After the passes down the catwalk, came the typical dances such as the Gualeguaychú Waltz, the Chamamé and the largest Pericón in the world.

In addition, there was a wide variety of gastronomic offerings offered at the stalls and grocery stores set up by students and the city’s institutions along Maestra Piccini Street, from España to Rocamora.

The 2024 edition had 24 free food stalls and 30 grocery stores that offered residents and tourists typical foods such as locro, buseca, pastries and fried cakes, but also bondiola sandwiches, vacuum, chicken, choripán, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

The contest was also held again to choose the “Best Empanada”: a jury made up of professionals from the Gastronomic Institute of the Americas (IGA) will choose the best among 28 applicants.

In addition, as part of the novelties of the 2024 edition of this great festival, a contest was held to choose the “Best Cabildo Model” in the city. Primary school students who carried out their work with free materials participated in this contest. They were exhibited in the Parque de la Estación, in front of the Casa Rosada.

Finally, the Undersecretary of Health installed the mobile vaccination center, where residents could receive, by presenting the certificate, the Flu vaccine, the Pneumococcus vaccine, the Hepatitis A vaccine, and the Triple Viral vaccine. The Joint Tourism Council, the Transit Directorate and the Honorable Deliberative Council also participated in this great national holiday with their stands.
