The lieutenant governor Anthony Marocco participated in the National Day of the Italian Republic, an occasion in which the events of June 2, 1946 were commemorated when the people of Italy were called to decide through a referendum their form of government after 85 years of monarchy, leaning towards the republican model.

The celebration took place at the facilities of the Italian Society and was led by the consular correspondent of Italy in Salta, Daniel Zozzoli. The representative of International Relations of the Government of Salta also participated, July Saint Millanamong other authorities.

On the occasion, members of the Italian community and government authorities present inaugurated the “Piazza della Repubblica” within the property, where two masts were located on which the flags of Italy and Argentina were raised. A wreath was also laid there in memory of the Italian immigrants, since their day is commemorated on June 3.

Next, those present went to the main hall of the Italian Society where the protocol celebration continued with the intonation of the verses of the Argentine National Anthem and the Italian National Anthem, both performed by the music band of the Municipality of Salta “25 of May”.

Furthermore, we are the fourth most important electoral district in Italy, only surpassed by Rome, Milan and Naples,” added the consular representative.

Finally, Zozzoli highlighted: “All of Argentina is permeated by Italianness, both in music and in accent, in language, in gastronomy, in architecture, etc.; and we are called to maintain and revitalize that legacy.”
