Today, the capital of the Boyacenses will receive devotees from all over the country to fervently celebrate the Festival in honor of our Lady of the Miracle, Queen and Lady of the Archdiocese of Tunja, Patroness of the city and protector of the Colombian Air Force.

The mayor of Tunja, Mikhail Krasnov and his work team, together with the Metropolitan Police, the Air Force, relief agencies and the Conceptionist Sisters of the El Topo Sanctuary, have everything prepared for the central ceremony of the festival that began on last May 23 and which ends this Sunday with the traditional and massive field mass that fills the Plaza de Bolívar.

For this reason, from last Friday until 9:00 in the morning of this holiday Monday, there has been a road closure on Carrera 15 between Calles 15 and 20.

The detour plan for those who must necessarily pass through the sector to the north must take Calle 15 – Av. Colon – Calle 17 – Carrera 12; Towards the south, continue along Calle 22 – Carrera 14, entrance and exit to the neighborhoods El Topo, Kennedy, Milagro, Concepción and to reach: Calle 23 – Carrera 15.

“With the aim of guaranteeing the safety and well-being of those attending the Festival of Our Lady of the Miracle, the Prohibition Law was decreed by the Ministry of the Interior (decree 0295 of May 27, 2024), which prohibited the sale and consumption of alcoholic and/or intoxicating beverages from Friday, May 31 until midnight this Sunday in the sector between Carrera 15 between Calles 15 and 20,” the mayor’s office reported.

And they added that commercial establishments that fail to comply with the provisions of the Decree will be immediately sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of Law 1801 of 2016 National Code of Security and Citizen Coexistence.

So that healthy coexistence is a positive factor during this celebration, the Metropolitan Police reinforced its security device with nearly 250 uniformed officers who will be at each of the scheduled activities.

Likewise, for the procession and the Eucharist in the Plaza de Bolívar there will also be uniformed members of the Bolívar Battalion who will patrol the city.
