This educational action allows technical school graduates to directly enter the 2nd year of technical courses such as Mining, Renewable Energy and Software. The strengthening of training is possible thanks to the coordinated work between teachers at the Secondary and Higher levels, which allows for continuous and quality educational trajectories.

The General Directorate of Schools (DGE), through the Directorate of Higher Education, is developing an educational action called “Prior Knowledge Credit System”, intended for students of technical secondary schools and Higher Education institutes, and which promotes continuous learning, articulation between levels and the recognition of the abilities acquired by students during their journeys, in order to enable them to advance in Higher Level careers, with the accreditation of the necessary knowledge.

The director of Higher Education, Mariela Ramos, explained that since the previous administration they have been working on a system of credits and passes between the Secondary and Higher levels. “We are currently working on three careers, Mining in Malargüe, Renewable Energy in the City of Mendoza, and Software in Godoy Cruz. This was launched through the work of a group of teachers from technical schools together with a group of teachers from Higher Education institutes who agreed on the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the 1st year. These students enter directly into 2nd year, and evidence has shown that they have a better educational trajectory than those who come from 1st year.”

It is worth highlighting the project carried out by 6th year teachers who worked with the higher level teachers of the aforementioned technical careers, allowing 6th year students to access the 2nd year of the technical courses.

Cecilia Deblasi, rector of the 9-019 INSUTEC institute, in the City of Mendoza, expressed that the accreditation system for prior knowledge establishes equivalences so that students from the Electromechanical and Mechanics secondary school can access the Renewable Energy career in a differentiated manner. , directly studying 2nd and 3rd years. “Students who come from technical schools save a year of study time. In our experience, it is strongly articulated with teachers at both levels, aiming at continuous training paths, and, at the end of this training, an intermediate certification is obtained that is recognized by the College of Technicians of Mendoza to enroll as installers of solar panels”.

For his part, Marcelo García, rector of IES 9-018 Governor Celso Jaque, said that together with the 4-018 Manuel Savio technical school, both educational institutions in Malargüe, for two years the students who graduated from the mining technical modality have had a recognition of their trajectories when they entered the institute. This recognition will allow them to validate the entire first year of the Higher Technician in Mining degree, so that it will only take them two years to complete.”

“Of the 25 students who started, 14 young people continue their studies. For Malargüe it is important to have these professional profiles. Future developments will need graduates in this specialty. We must continue thinking about validating the trajectories of students from technical schools in other specialties that are necessary for the department,” García concluded.

Carlos Vázquez, rector of the 9-008 Manuel Belgrano institute, of Godoy Cruz, also based in Las Heras, maintained that the project of articulation of programming technicians between the Pablo Nogués technical school and the institute is developed thanks to the necessary articulations between the Directorate of Higher Education, the Pablo Nogués school and the institute itself.

“Thirteen 6th year students study for four or five months to then access the 2nd year of the technical degree. They are graduates of a technical college with a lot of knowledge and, with two more years of training, they obtain the title of software development technician that qualifies them to work in different companies. We gain time and educational quality, we achieve young professionals who provide them with a bridge between the Secondary Level and the Higher Level, obtaining different certifications that guarantee them so that they can practice their profession quickly,” said Vázquez, who also highlighted that it is a new project and that we must continue adjusting actions.
