Nacho García and Andrea Garrido win the first Cross Ciudad de Alfaro

The first edition of the Cross Ciudad de Alfaro, organized by the In Sport municipal gym with the collaboration of the City Council, brought together 170 runners in its absolute category at noon yesterday, in addition to dozens of children in the previous races on the bases from the 2019 candidates to the cadets.

The La Molineta soccer field was the start, finish line and nerve center for this test that was held over two distances: 10 and 5 kilometers. And that had local runners as the main protagonists in the final podiums.

With runners from Navarra, Aragonese and La Rioja towns, the start was common for everyone, leaving a spectacular image on the starting line. Over the 10 kilometers, with 97 registered, the fastest was Nacho García Remón from Alfara, who dominated the race from the beginning, finishing it in 33 minutes. 1 minute and 52 seconds later, Mario León, also from Alfara, entered, and at 2.19, Juan Abad, from Arneda. The women’s victory was also from Alfareño, with Andrea Garrido in 41 minutes and 8 seconds, ahead of Deysi Gutiérrez and Toñi Miguel Martínez.

For its part, the distance of 5 kilometers saw the victory over the 73 points of the villager Héctor Miguel Fuertes with 16 minutes and 52 seconds, taking an advantage of 45 seconds over Ismael Edderraz and 49 over Lucas Capilla. The best female was Verónica Fernández, from Calagurris Atlético, with 22 minutes and 59 seconds, ahead of María Atienza and Laura Hernández.

The race, which started from La Molineta to surround the soccer field and run through the paths of the La Molineta swamps and the paths of its poplar grove, was characterized by the intense wind that blew up during the morning, something that some runners highlighted as a condition.
