(ADN).- Provincial legislator Luciano Delgado Sempé proposed creating a Río Negro Irrigation Master Plan. The project is centered on sustainable development and has two main objectives: guarantee access to drinking water for all inhabitants of the province and put more than 4 million hectares under irrigation.

If implemented, this plan “will transform the productive matrix of Río Negro, efficiently taking advantage of the available water resources,” the project indicates in its arguments.

«Currently, we are dumping 1700 cubic meters of water per minute into the sea and we are not able to irrigate our plateau. It is time to stop saying and start doing,” said the legislator. The initiative seeks not only to improve the quality of life of citizens, but also to promote the agricultural and economic development of the region.

Sempé highlighted the importance of this project as a long-term solution to the problems of water supply and agricultural development in Río Negro.

“This plan is not only a fulfilled promise, but also a vision towards a more prosperous and sustainable future for our province,” he concluded.
