by Andrés Acosta, artistic director of the Province’s symphonic band.
A characteristic of this concert is that it will be performed with a very particular wind ensemble.
It is a reduced format that includes the band’s instrument families: woodwinds, brass and percussion, as well as bass and guitar in this case.
The concert has a clear jazz influence, since what was written for clarinet is a metamorphosis of themes by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Cello Concerto, by Gulda, uses very classical forms, at the same time it uses very modern sounds and a lot of virtuosity.
As no minor fact, the cello and the double bass are the string instruments that have been most integrated into the symphonic band formation; In fact, there are many bands in the world that have lines of double bass and cello.
