The Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, and the Secretary of the Interior, Lisandro Catalán, held a series of meetings today at Casa Rosada with the governors of Jujuy, Carlos Sadir; from Entre Ríos, Rogelio Frigerio; and from Chaco, Leandro Zdero; during which various agreements were signed for the transfer of 80 public works from the Nation to the provinces.

After the signing, Guillermo Francos assured: “In joint work with the Ministry of Economy, the Secretariat of Public Works and the governors, we agreed to distribute responsibilities regarding the continuation of certain works. Some will continue to be in charge of the National Government, while others will do so under the orbit of the provinces.”

“For the Government, the autonomy and responsibility of the provincial states are central aspects. This is a campaign commitment assumed by President Javier Milei, which we have been talking to with provincial leaders in recent months,” explained the Chief of Staff.

Through the celebration of these agreements, in which the Secretary of Public Works, Luis Giovine, the Secretary of Provinces and Municipalities, Javier Milano, and the head of ENOHSA, Bartolomé Heredia, also participated; Each province undertakes to assume the financing or execution of the works detailed in the agreement. Among those that were transferred, the construction of Child Development Centers (CDI), completion of hospitals, water works, sanitation and urban improvement, routes and roads, among others, stands out.

The aforementioned works transfer agreements are the first to be concluded between the national government and provincial administrations, in the face of a public and fiscal emergency situation that the country is going through. The agreements establish a framework for the distribution of financial and execution responsibilities between the Nation and the provinces, with the objective of optimizing the management and development of public works that are under execution.

“It is important that the provinces are responsible for those works that are carried out in their territory,” said Francos. “For a long time, we accepted the unitary management of the State as a whole, in which each jurisdiction depended on the requests it made to the National State. Today we are embarking on the path towards a federal system in earnest,” he concluded.
