On May 28, the commemoration of the Day of Naval Glories was held at the Embassy of Chile in India, which is celebrated every May 21, the date of the Iquique Naval Combat, which was attended by Naval and Defense attachés of Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Mexico and Peru. All the local and diplomatic staff of the Chilean embassy, ​​its consular section, and the Defense, Police, Commercial and Agricultural attaché offices also participated.

The ceremony began, after the National Anthem, with a greeting from Ambassador Juan Angulo to the Defense attachés and officials present, where he highlighted the importance of the Chilean Navy in various aspects of Chilean society, its international presence, and the figure by Arturo Prat.

The Chilean Defense Attaché in India, Colonel Leonardo Palma, made a presentation in which the events of May 21, 1879, the day of the Naval Battle of Iquique, were reconstructed in detail. He shared with the guests the importance of the figures of Arturo Prat, whose bravery is an object of inspiration to this day, and Miguel Grau, Peruvian commander of the Huáscar monitor, whose chivalry and distinction have earned him wide international recognition.

The presentation ended with a video of the Chilean Navy highlighting its technical preparation, its service to society in such important aspects as transportation and medical care in isolated areas, as well as the control of fishing activity and the rescue of people in the sea. At the end, attendees were invited to taste typical Chilean products, including empanadas, alfajores and mille-feuille cake.
