The activity consists of entering mountainous areas for more than a week and they are looking for volunteers who wish to participate. They do not need to have experience and all expenses are covered, they only need to bring warm clothing and a sleeping bag.
In that sense, Agustina Murgia, a Conicet biologist, told Channel 4 that “I am working with surrounding communities and “I am looking for people who want to participate in this field research, which is part of my doctoral thesis and at the same time a conservation project based on everything that is the genetic part.”

“The idea is a 10-day campaign trip, we are going to cover two mountainous areas of Jujuy and Salta, with peaks of 5,000 meters high, to grassland areas of 3,000 meters, more or less“he added.
He also maintained that “it is not necessary to have previous experience, just the desire to work and learn. Each volunteer will only have to bring personal equipment, a sleeping bag and plenty of shelter, because it will probably be very cold, but everything that is transportation, lodging and food, is at the expense of the project.”
About the crossing he noted that “The first days are the hardest because they are the days that we set the traps. We work with 200 active traps at the same time. “Then we check the traps, see which animals fell and we see the different species.”

“The first thing we want to see is what animals are in that area, to get to know them and based on that to start working. Once we have that list of species, we work with the genetic part, what we are interested in finding using genetics, are areas that have some characteristics or traits, where rodents have some particularity that makes them interesting for the survival of the species in the future.
