HAVANA.- Cuba today salutes the 93rd birthday of Army General Raúl Castro and evokes his contributions to the revolutionary work.
Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, stated that in the exemplary life of Raúl Castro Ruz, the values of the historical Generation, guided by the unitary ideal, are summarized. patriotic and anti-imperialist of Martí and Fidel.
“Congratulations, dear Army General, undisputed leader of the #CubanRevolution,” added the head of state in his message, on the X social network.
For his part, Esteban Lazo, president of Parliament and the Council of State, assured that Raúl is a reference for any revolutionary; example of discipline, experience, capacity and contributions to the work of the Revolution.

Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, thanked the Army General for his trust, firmness, altruism and modesty, while highlighting that Raúl is a reference for any Cuban communist and revolutionary.
Likewise, he said he felt privileged to be at his side taking care of the Revolution.

From 1959 to 2008 Raúl Castro Ruz was the minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces; From October 3, 1965 to April 19, 2011 he was the second secretary of the PCC; and from this last date until April 2021 he held the position of First Secretary of that organization.
He assumed leadership of the country between 2006 and 2018, a period during which he promoted important structural and conceptual changes to update the Cuban economic and social model.
