Rolando Figueroa at the MPN summit in Chos Malal: “This meeting can serve to reconcile us”

The governor of Neuquén, Rolando Figueroa, arrived this afternoon at Chos Malal for the meeting called by the Neuquén Popular Movement to launch the group “La 27” who will support his re-election. The president was received with applause at the Police Circle in the town of Norte Neuquén and a delegation of several mayors from the interior. The new ally of Neuquén capital, Mariano Gaido, sent the Chief of Staff, María Pasqualini, to represent him. Figueroa spoke of reconciliation and having a “frontist spirit.”

The meeting began after 4pm with a large crowd which, according to the organization’s estimates, exceeded 500 people. The original location for the meeting was the Student Society club, but it was changed due to the number of attendees confirmed until last week.

«This meeting can serve to reconcile us, to melt into an embrace. If there was a difference, it was temporary, we have to build for what is to come,” defined the governor.

The summit was organized by Hugo Gutiérrez, president of the Chos Malal section of the MPN, along with other mayors and leaders of Northern Neuquén. Current provincial cabinet officials such as Jorge Lara and Marita Villone also participate in this assembly.

At the beginning of the event, Gutiérrez served as host with words of welcome and then the mayor of San Martín de los Andes, Carlos Saloniti, was scheduled to speak.

Provincial deputies such as Juan Sepúlveda, Patricia Fernández, Cielubi Obreque and Gabriel Álamo also attended from the MPN.

Figueroa arrived in Chos Malal from Taquimilán, about 20 kilometers away, where this morning he participated in the 55th anniversary. He is next to the Chief of Staff, Juan Luis Ousset.

“When a colleague calls us, the MPN is calling us and it is a good place to face each other, to talk while being respectful of history and making it clear that it is not against anyone, but for everyone,” said Figueroa about the invitation.

In his speech, he asked rescue what “Felipe, Pedro, Sobisch and Jorge Sapag did as leaders” because “they interpreted what was happening in society, they put together a political proposal and society validated it to transform them into governors,” he said. He did not mention Omar Gutiérrez.

He also explained his political strategy for which he left the MPN to run in the province, because he analyzed that “a very strong power” had been concentrated. And he highlighted about Gaido: “We have a mayor in the capital who also did an experiment of the same nature to win the capital, which allowed us to beat the Pechi Quiroga model.”

Figueroa also asked to have a “frontist spirit” and seek “neuquinity” in the Legislature, in the Deliberative Councils It is no use having an administrative head of the province and a political leader: it did not help, that is the key to what happened. “Here leadership is earned on the field and I am willing to win it,” he said.
