The event was held at the Rubén Martínez Villena Provincial Library and after its inauguration gave way to the Dynamics of Cuban Trova panel, made up of the well-known troubadour Eduardo Sosa, Juan Eduardo Bernal and the musician and researcher Carlos Manuel Borroto.

Bernal, president of the Sancti Spiritus branch of the José Martí Cultural Society, told the press that “trova is something necessary and important, especially because it is the essence of the Cuban spirit, in it are our joys and sorrows.”

“There is the epic and the lyrical and what the Cuban can never lack, which is the willingness to always believe, it is an affirmation of the past and a security for the future,” he stated.

“Choosing this first moment to talk about the trova is an act of justice, because the trova must always be remembered, because it is one of the components of the Cuban so that memory never fails us,” concluded the prominent intellectual from Sancti Spiritus.

This Monday, the personal exhibition Sueños Yayaberos, by the renowned photographer and journalist Raúl García (Garal) was inaugurated in the Fayad Jamís Room of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) in the province.

A sample from the also delegate of the Prensa Latina Correspondent in Sancti Spíritus, where the heritage symbols of this old city stand out, with its red clay tile roofs, its narrow streets and some cobblestones.

Afterwards, in the Uneac Poetry Courtyard, the Magazine dedicated to the 510th anniversary of the founding of the fourth of the first seven towns founded in Cuba by the Spanish was presented.

Both activities were attended by Bárbara Mínguez, president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, Luis Enrique González, president of the Agencia Prensa Latina, founded on June 16, 1959, and executives from the Culture sector, among others.

The Teatro Principal will host the Gala tonight for the 510th anniversary of the founding of the former town of Espíritu Santo.

Tomorrow the Solemn Session of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power will take place in that same theater, one of the three architectural jewels of this city founded on June 4, 1514.

It was moved eight years later from its founding site to the current enclave, on the banks of the Yayabo River, the origin of legends and on which a bridge with five imposing arches gracefully rests, the only exponent of its type in Cuba.
