This last weekend, personnel from the Rural Crime Prevention Directorate carried out a procedure in the La Florida neighborhood, framed in Law No. 14,346, for animal cruelty.
The operation was carried out in a house located on provincial route No. 1, where fighting roosters and elements used for this purpose were seized.
On Saturday, the Brigade was alerted by an anonymous call about the cockfight event that was taking place at the location. This led to surveillance tasks by police personnel, corroborating the facts. The prosecutor on duty was informed and the judge’s order was obtained to carry out the search and home search, which was carried out successfully.
The uniformed officers identified fifteen people of legal age, verifying the presence of fighting roosters with recent injuries, some with spikes placed, as well as a fighting ring, metal spikes, scissors, and a betting board.
Members of the Mandisoví and Tagüe Police Stations participated in the procedure; and the veterinarian intervened and examined the birds. In addition, they proceeded to transfer the owner of the property for correct identification, leaving those present subject to the cause.
Items of interest to the case were seized as well as a cell phone.
