They adhere to the UNT, but the UTN will have activity.

The 48-hour strike announced for today and tomorrow in all public universities in the country will have a moderate impact on our province. While the unions that bring together teachers and non-teachers of the National University of Tucumán (UNT) will abide by the measure, the Federation of Teachers’ Union Associations of the National Technological University (Fagdut) called for alternative measures to the strike, and suggested that the workers of each Regional Faculty of the UTN hold assemblies in their workplaces. This position, according to union sources, is due to the fact that the elections for the renewal of the Superior Council of that house of higher education will be held on those two days.

The agreement between the rectors and the Government did not stop the strike in the universities

The measure of force was called by the Trade Union Front of the National Universities, a space made up of Conadu, Conadu Historica, the Federation of University Teachers, the Argentine Teachers Union, the Central of Education Workers of the Argentine Republic (Ctera), the Federation Argentina of Workers of National Universities (Fatun) and Fagdut.

The Association of Teachers and Researchers of the UNT (Adiunt) will abide by the strike without attendance at workplaces, and will convert it into an active force measure. At 9:30 they will hold a protest at the headquarters of the Council of Experimental Schools (La Madrid 887); and one more hour they will do public classes and cooked mate at the door of the Rectorate (Ayacucho 491). “We mobilized demanding a salary increase and an increase in the educational budget,” says the union’s statement.

Agreed increase

A little over a week ago, the National Interuniversity Council agreed with the Government on a 270% increase in operating expenses for the country’s public universities. However, the unions did not agree to any salary increase.
