(ADN).- Senator Martín Doñate toured provincial route 6 that connects the Alto Valle with the Southern Region and demanded the reactivation of national works paralyzed since Javier Milei took office as president. He warned that the approval of the Base Law “will deepen the deterioration of federalism” and questioned the idea of provincializing national routes: “the province today does not have the financial or operational capacity to maintain even one provincial route.”

Doñate published through his social networks a video in which he travels a section of provincial route 6 between General Roca and the town of Cuy, in which he shows the deterioration of the road due to lack of maintenance.

He recalled that “this strategic route should be in progress,” since he himself participated in the efforts before the national government, along with other actors in the province, to obtain financing of 28 million dollars through the IDB for the execution of works aimed at the recovery and improvement of routes 6 and 8, during the last administration.

Regarding this, he pointed out that “Milei decided to paralyze public works throughout the country through DNU 70/2023, a decree that withdraws the National State from the interior of Argentina.”

He continued the defense by maintaining that “if the Bases Law is approved in Congress, let’s forget about the funds that correspond to the provinces and the works that are needed throughout the country.”

In the video images you can see the risk it represents for vehicular traffic, exhibiting the deterioration of the layout of this extensive route in the province of Río Negro.

In this regard, the Senator referred to the fact that the brake on public works not only means the deterioration of living conditions for the people of Covincia. It also implies less work, less connectivity and more isolation for Rio Negro towns.

Doñate concluded by pointing out that “the province does not have the financial resources or operational capacity to maintain its own routes. That is why federalism is so important and that the president of the Nation understands the importance of knowing the country in order to govern it, because no one can govern what they do not know, much less love it.”
