HAVANA.- Lourdes Castellanos Jiménez, director of International Relations, Business, Foreign Investment and Institutional Communication of the Azcuba Business Group, reported that the execution of 16 foreign investment projects is currently being promoted, aimed at the modernization of sugar mills.

The official explained to the Granma newspaper that the new investments include the use of efficient technologies in cultivation, irrigation and drainage, harvesting and transportation to increase yields, as well as rehabilitating the different areas of the raw sugar factory, guaranteeing greater efficiency. industrial and operational reliability to increase grain production and the generation of electrical energy, reducing production costs.

The construction of a new sugar mill is planned, which will have a refinery, a generation block of one hundred megawatts and a distillery of 500 HLD (two percent glutaraldehyde) of alcohol, he stressed.

Currently, Azcuba is focused on the diversified manufacturing of organic products at the Carlos Baliño plant, as well as on the production of sorbitol and fructoligosaccharide (FOS, sugar substitutes or sweeteners) and on the modernization and increase of the scope of the boiler factory. .
