In this regard, SalmonChile agreed, stating that “as a union, we appreciate that the forceful decision of the CRUBC taken in February has been maintained in today’s session, given that the claim presented by the requesting communities lacked factual arguments and right”.

“Once again, the visions of various social, territorial, productive actors, of the development of the region, authorities and mayors who represent the interests of the communities agreed that the requests were disproportionate, generated conflict, and generated uncertainty regarding the future development of the communities. activities that coexist on the coastal edge of the Aysén region. Likewise, we trust that the modifications to the Lafkenche Law, currently in the Senate, and the work of the Presidential Commission for Peace and Understanding will reduce the conflict and uncertainty that the poor application of this regulation is generating in the south of Chile,” they added from the union.

For her part, Loreto Seguel, executive director of the Salmon Council, commented that “we appreciate that for the second time in this CRUBC, sanity and common sense prevail over the interest of a few. It is a relief to see that we are on the right path by defending the legitimate interests of various industries and sectors that operate on the coastline and that provide employment, well-being and prosperity to the southern south of Chile.”
