A new case of Femicide occurred over the weekend in Colombia. This time, the victim was a 25-year-old woman, identified as Leidy Daniela Moreno Buitrago. The murderer, as has happened recently, was her former romantic partner.
According to the information known so far, Moreno Buitrago was murdered by her ex-partner Ruben Darío Gil in a rural area of the municipality of Tausa, Cundinamarca, located 67.2 kilometers from the country’s capital.
The man, with whom Moreno had a 4-year-old son and from whom he had separated 8 months ago, He arrived at the woman’s home and shot her several times. with firearm. Daniela died immediately at the scene.
After committing the crime, Rubén Darío Gil, who according to information from Blu Radio was barely 20 years old and had a long history of abuse against his partner, shot himself to take his own life.
He did not die at the time, but was left with serious injuries. When the authorities of the municipalities of Ubaté and Zipaquirá, also located in Cundinamarca, arrived at the house where the feminicide occurred, they found the man dying. He was taken to La Samaritana hospital in Zipaquirá, where he died.
The competent authorities removed the body of Leidy Daniela Moreno Buitrago. Her remains were taken to forensic medicine to analyze the circumstances of her death.
“A regrettable case in the municipality of Tausa, where a person ends the life of his romantic partner. Subsequently, an injury is caused that also ends up taking his life in events that occurred in a rural area of that municipality,” commented the colonel. This is the third case of feminicide that has occurred in the last week in the interior of the country. They were murdered before Stefany Barranco Oquendo and Natalia Vasquez Amaya by their romantic partners in Bogotá.
During last weekend, two cases of murders of women were also recorded in Antioquia. One occurred in Fredoniasouthwest of the department. The other in Sabaneta, south of the Aburrá Valley.
So far in 2024, more than 217 femicides have been recorded in the country. Of them, only 138 are being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office. 79 are in the investigation stage, 29 in investigation, 27 in trial, 2 in execution of sentences and only 1 conviction due to acceptance of the facts.
