Government of Boyacá advances actions to address emergencies in the Tenza Valley

The Government of Boyacá, in coordination with the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) and the Transversal Concession of Sisga, carried out a joint tour of that road corridor in response to the declaration of public calamity in Santa María and a red alert in Macanal as a result of the winter emergency that affects that region of the Tenza Valley.

After the inspection, a total of 17 impacts on walkability due to natural events were identified, which include 15 partial closures due to mass movements and two total closures due to partial loss of benching with a high risk of total loss.

Luis Carlos Mantilla, director of Road Infrastructure Development of Boyacá, pointed out that the concession is actively working on the affected sites through material removal and transportation activities, surface runoff control and bank protection to prevent further damage.

In addition, the ANI issued a formal request to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management to convene a Unified Command Post from the national order and manage a 50-meter modular metal bridge and humanitarian aid.

Mantilla assured that ANI is planning and executing short, medium and long-term tasks, which seek to restore mobility between these municipalities.

During the visit, national entities, the departmental cabinet, mayors, representatives and members of the community of the sector were present.
