They seek to take care of the works in the Center of Bucaramanga

The Mayor’s Office and the community met to share commitments and carry out actions aimed at protecting the works and promoting the center as a tourist attraction.

The works in the center of Bucaramanga, of Plan C Walkable City, are 95% complete. They are expected to be completed by the end of June.

With the purpose that the Bucaramanga Mayor’s Office and the community take care of the works of Plan C, Walkable City of the City Center, which currently have a progress of 95%, a meeting was called to establish commitments and thus guarantee the sustainability of this project.

The works being carried out are the recovery of platforms, green areas, pavement changes, among others, which aim to improve pedestrian spaces and beautify the Center, in order to make it attractive to tourism.

According to the director of the Architecture Workshop of the Mayor’s Office of Bucaramanga, Iván Acevedo, these works are part of the connection that is intended to be made with Romero Park, Plaza San Mateo, Centenario Park and 36th Street, which make up a cultural and administrative zone with which it is intended to return these spaces to pedestrians for their enjoyment.

Regarding the meeting, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Jorge Alejandro García Henao, indicated that the intention of the meeting in which leaders of Communes 5 and 15 were present, was to establish activities for the use and enjoyment of public space related to establishing some commitments between citizens and the administration, in addition to formulating management plans that the sector requires.

The Mayor’s Office of Bucaramanga called on the communities of the city center to agree on commitments that will allow the works to be maintained and promote tourism.

Among the issues that were discussed and on which care efforts should be focused are: overpopulation of birds in García Rovira park; presence and habitability of homeless people; shops with drinks and food outlets; security; sports and cultural offer in the area; tourist promotion of the Center; and generate civic culture and a sense of belonging.

Meetings will continue to implement strategies.
